Christmas time is here. Last time I checked, it was Thanksgiving, and it was even before that that the streets became adorned with candy canes and green tinsel. Then again, I don’t blame them for decorating the streets this way. Large posters of turkeys and pilgrims in store windows and on billboards would get old much faster than the card-board cutouts of Santa Clause and the Coca-Cola polar bears would. But we digress. Whether we like it or not, we’re reaching the pinnacle of the holidays. So get ready, ’cause the malls will begin to crowd, it gets darker earlier, and strangers become jollier (not that that last one was a negative thing). I guess what I’m trying to say is that whether we like it or not, young or old, in company or alone, it’s the holidays. The time of year that peppermint enters all of our drinks and gingerbread enters the food pyramid. Everybody loves this time of year, so why not make the most of it with the people you love the most? Ask that special friend to go ice skating, or have the gang over to build a gingerbread house. Whatever way you celebrate this festive time of year, Merry Christmas, from Mike Washington.
